Attention 8th Graders:
Come to the 9th Grade Information Night with your parents and family members to learn more about WHS on Thursday, April 7th from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. in the Hamlet cafeteria. High school students will talk about clubs, athletics and classes. Pizza will be provided. Come and have fun with your friends at the 80's - Cosplay Dance Party this Thursday, March 31st from 5 - 7 p.m. in the Villa Nova cafeteria. Admission is $5.00 at the door. Prizes will be given for the best costumes. No masks allowed. Pizza and snacks will be sold at the dance. ID required. Sponsored by the CCF After-school Program. If you’ve been in PASS, MATS, or suspended from March 8th to March 31st, you will not be able to attend.
Creative Chef, Minecraft and Soccer are full. Other after school programs are still available for students to sign up. Hamlet Thank you to all who donated for the Pennies for Patients campaign! Hamlet students, faculty and staff raised $1,297.46! Mrs. McCarthy's homeroom was the top homeroom with a donation of $250! They will be enjoying a treat very soon. Mr. Lamoureux's homeroom was a close second with $216.08 and Mrs. DeSante's homeroom collected an outstanding $209.51! Watch out next year Mrs. McCarthy!! Villa Nova The tally is in for the 2016 Pennies for Patients Campaign. Villa Nova raised $404.07 to help beat blood cancers in kids. Thank you to all who participated. The winning homeroom which raised $90.47 is homeroom 210, Miss Ducharme. They will be receiving a special treat in the upcoming days! Sign up now for the Spring Session of our after school programs. City Officials are thanking us for becoming the first school in our school district to have the food waste diversion program. The students did an awesome job accepting the new way of disposing of the unwanted food scraps. City Officials estimate that we pulled an additional 200 pounds of food scraps out of the waste stream a day and repurposed it to food.
We are in the home stretch for our Pennies for Patients collection! This is the last week for collecting donations. Which homeroom will donate the most to win a pizza party? Will it be Mrs. Jenness’ and Mrs. McCarthy’s homeroom? Or is another homeroom going to win? How about Mrs. DeSante’s homeroom? We will find out soon! What is Good Deeds? You will write a Kind Note to someone or Perform a Good Deed. Complete a Kindness Matters Slip and place the slip in the box in the Main Office. Add your “Heart” to the others and watch love grow. Final Announcement - In honor of Women's History Month in March, the Governor’s office will be accepting submissions for the 2016 Governor for a Day essay contest. The contest is open to girls in 5th through 8th grade throughout the state. The winning essayist will be named "Governor for a Day", and spend a day during the week of April 18-22 meeting and speaking with other leaders across state government. Interested applicants must apply by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 14th, 2016 with an essay of 400 words or less in response to the question, "What would you do if you were Rhode Island's Governor for a Day?" You can pick up entry information in the main office or ask your English teacher. Until Monday 3/7 INTERACT CLUB IS HOSTING A DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT ON TUESDAY, MARCH 8TH FROM 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM AT THE VILLA NOVA GYM TO BENEFIT THE CCF-21ST CCLC AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM. SIGN UPS ARE WITH MS. JENNESS IN ROOM 206 AT HAMLET AND PHIM IN THE CAFETERIA AFTER SCHOOL AT VILLA NOVA. ADMISSION IS $2.00 TO PLAY IN THE TOURNAMENT AND $4.00 TO WATCH THE GAME. The Girls’ softball team will be holding their sign up meeting on Thursday after school in the Villa Nova gym. All players must attend this meeting to get their paperwork. Anyone with questions can see Mr. Belisle in the gym. The Valentine's Day Dance is this Thursday from 4-6pm in the Villa Nova Cafeteria. Tickets are $5.00 and will be sold at the door. Also, we will be selling snacks, pizza, and wooden roses throughout the dance. Be sure to come down for a fun night with your friends or Valentine! Please remember if you are on social probation due to being in PASS, MATS, or suspended from January 28th to February 25th, you will not be able to attend. The Wear Red Day has been rescheduled to this Friday due to the cancellation of school on Friday. We encourage everyone to show their support in the fight against heart disease by wearing red on this day. As a reminder we are collecting donations all month in the Nurse's office. Today our school starts Pennies for Patients and joins 29,000 schools nationwide in the fight against blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. All you have to do is collect coins and other donations (dollar bills, checks) and put them in your homeroom’s collection box. Remember that every penny counts! Hamlet’s school goal is $1800.
