Messages to Students: Due to the volume of calls the main office receives each day, we are asking families to refrain from requests to speak to or to give students messages unless it is an emergency.
October is breast cancer awareness month. In honor of survivors and the loved ones we have lost to this dreaded disease, WMS will wear “PINK” every Friday in October. The WMS Helps to Knock Out Breast Cancer walk is this Friday October 2nd during each Enrichment period. Donate at least $1 to join the walk. The Kona Ice truck will be here and will donate part of the sales.
Parent-Teacher Conferences in each building this Thursday, October 1st from 5 pm to 8 pm.
Picture Re-Takes will be October 9th in the morning at Villa Nova and the afternoon at Hamlet.
Box Tops for Education collection has begun. Please bring in Box Tops to your homeroom teacher who will then turn them in to Mrs. DeSante in Hamlet or Mrs. Metivier in Villa Nova for clipping, counting and bagging. Each Box Top is worth $0.10. This might not seem like a lot but they add up quickly. All proceeds go to the Woonsocket Middle School PTO to help support student activities such as field day. The homeroom that collects the most will be awarded a pizza party in January.
There will be a student council meeting this Thursday until 2:30 in Mr. Brien’s room 219 in Villa Nova.
Students must have their agendas at all time for all classes. Never leave your agenda in your locker. You need it to keep track of your homework and if you need to leave your classroom.
In Hamlet, the school store will be open beginning Tuesday. Students may visit the school store only with permission from his/her homeroom teacher and a signed agenda. There is a wide variety of school supplies and school-related items at reasonable prices, so come visit and do a little shopping. The store will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays during Advisory and Tuesdays during all enrichment periods.
In Villa Nova, the school store is now open every morning during advisory and during Monday's enrichment periods. If you are interested in working at the school store please stop by Mrs. Tenreiro’s office and pick up an application! We need reliable and responsible student employees!
In Villa Nova if you are in 8th grade and would like to be part of the Peer Mentor Program now is the time to sign up. Peer Mentors use their Enrichment class to work with our friends in Mrs Spina's classroom. This is an incredible program and we are thrilled to start it up again this year! Applications are available in Mrs Tenreiros office and need to be signed by a parent. You will also need teacher approval and are expected to keep up with your classwork and behavioral expectations. Please return your application quickly so that we can begin next week!
The teachers on team 6-4 would like to give a big shout out to their students. Yesterday during the fire and the evacuation drill the students were outstanding. The behavior of all the students was stellar. We are very proud of all of you. Keep up the great behavior and being shinning stars.
